BMW F 450 GS: New spy images of BMW’s F 450 GS have surfaced, featuring what looks like a production-spec prototype of the adventure bike that is eagerly-awaited. Showcased first as a concept at EICMA 2024 & later at Auto Expo 2025, the F 450 GS is now being road tested in Karnataka, ahead of a possible late 2025 launch. These new pictures now offer our best glimpse yet of BMW’s upcoming entry-level GS, which is set to be built in India by TVS Motor Company.
Based on these spy shots, BMW has managed to translate the concept’s aggression to the production version with minimal alteration being necessary. And in the same way a butterfly eventually wriggles free of its chrysalis, it seems BMW’s Successful F 450 X Concept could be about to step out of one of the most extensive stints in development any new bike has gained in recent years to become one of the most eagerly anticipated of the middleweight adventure class anywhere.
BMW F 450 GS Design and Styling
The production model BMW F 450 GS drew inspiration from the BMW GS family design language, yet also broke away from tradition. The front is highlighted by an X-shaped LED DRL like the flagship R 1300 GS, but without the singular unit, but a vertically-stacked headlight setup. The look of the bike is returned with a rather up to date and yet still a BMW look.
Some of the crucial design details can be seen on the test mule even under the heavy camouflage such as the sharp adventure beak, tall windscreen and sculpted fuel tank. The test bike also sported alloy wheels instead of wire-spoke ones we saw on the concept and will likely feature various options for the road and off-road crowd. However, the general package here is still narrow and slim, resulting in a lightweight adventure motorcycle that won’t scare riders with added bulk.

The test bike also sported useful add-ons like a top box and panniers, further hinting at BMW making certain the F 450 GS will be tour-ready out-the-box when it’s released later. These production testing setups offer a good look at the bike in its maximum load (adventure mode) configuration, ready for when the world resumes normal life and we can hop on a backroad tour of some far-flung country.
BMW F 450 GS Engine and Performance
The BMW F 450 GS is powered by an all-new 450cc parallel-twin motor, that promises to be both characterful and performance oriented. This newly-designed engine makes 48.6 PS (48 bhp) and almost 45 Nm (38 lb-ft) of torque making it very competitive in segment of middle-sized adventure bikes.
The unique thing is the engine also features a different ignition offset, which is a first for BMW’s adventure range, designed to give the unit a rev-happy feel while also offering strong low-down torque. This engineering approach should produce an engine that’s as at home picking its way through techy off-road sections as it is cruising along on highways.
The engine is also constructed with lightweight components including magnesium to keep weight down overall. BMW stated the concept tipped the scales at a mere 175 kg, and even if the production model adds a little weight in the form of extra hardware, you can bet it would set a new bar for power-to-weight. It is for sure a light weight solution, it’s like giving a sprinter track shoes instead of hiking boots, every gram saved means better performance and agility.
BMW F 450 GS Features and Technology
It’s not that the BMW F 450 GS is devoid of tech but quite the contrary – it’s packed with all modern trinkets that make their way from bigger adventure bikes (the category just above this) into the middleweight segment. The motorcycle will be equipped with a 6.5” color TFT display that incorporates full Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity to keep attentive on the road with turn-by-turn navigation, music, and your phone’s functions.
As for the rider aids, we can expect to see a full suite of them, leaning on the F 450 GS to feature various adjustable riding modes, lean-sensitive ABS, and traction control system. These electronic assistants will assist riders in controlling the bike on different terrains and under different conditions, and will ultimately, democratize the advanced riding experience for enthusiasts of all kinds of skill levels.
Ride Handling duties are believed to be adventure-friendly, with inverted forks (gold finished with powder coating) up front and a preload-adjustable rear monoshock. Although the concept was equipped with adjustable suspension with load-dependent damping, we’re yet to see if these high end components will feature in the production model across the range.

F 450 GS Price and Competitive Comparison
The F 450 GS will retail in India for somewhere between Rs.4.5 – 5 lakh (ex-showroom) when it is launched in the later part of 2025. It will go head-to-head with the KTM 390 Adventure, Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, Honda NX500, and CFMoto 450 MT in the segment at this price-point.
What makes the F 450 GS to stand out compared to the competition is the BMW’s premium brand value, higher performance provided by its twin-cylinder engine and the full list of features. For a lot of riders that will be the attraction: that, though on the small side, this is a real GS, if its as good as BMW say it is, an on and off-roader all wrapped up into one.
Production and Availability
The BMW F 450 GS will be built at TVS Motor Company’s facility at Hosur, India – the two companies have been partners since 2013. This manufacturing partnership is further confirmed in its testing in Karnataka state, leaving TVS working on the manufacturing especially.
The F 450 GS is likely to go on sale in the 3rd quarter of 2025 and deliveries could start ahead of the festive season in India. International reach will of course, soon follow as the motorcycle will be exported to all international markets.
